Lantino immigrants in a small suburb of Maryland are targets of robberies and crime. They are victims of their own circumstances: they are single men, undocumented, working as day laborers. After a long day of hard work some cluster in the parking lots of apartment complexes with co-workers or acquintances and consume large amounts of alcohol. They come home from construction jobs on Friday evening, police say, carrying their pay in cash, become inebriated and get robbed. Because of fear of law enforcement or of deportation, they do not report robberies to the authorities.
